Message from the Board – November 2020

The HOA Board met on Monday, October 12, 2020 at 6:30 pm via Zoom.  All board members except Leo Furman were in attendance, along with Becky Salinas from Sterling ASI.  We also had one homeowner, Royce Phillips, who joined the meeting to inquire about volunteering.  Mr. Phillips will be taking care of the neighborhood flags and we are very grateful for his help.  Homeowners are always welcome in the monthly HOA Board meeting and we invite you to join us on Zoom.

We have scheduled Movie Night for Saturday, November 14th at 7:00 p.m. at the tennis court.  The movie to be shown is How to Train your Dragon – The Hidden World.  There will be snacks and water available, but you are also welcome to bring your own.  Please bring your own chair/blanket and sit on the marked places for families in order to be socially distant.  We encourage you to wear a mask and if you are feeling sick, please stay home.

Water Logic, through MUD 41, performed an irrigation evaluation of Village of Oak Lake around mid-September and we are waiting on the results of that inspection.  They will be providing results to the MUD, HOA and landscaping company, LMC, and that information will be included in the next Message from the Board.

LMC has changed out the color in our neighborhood for the Fall/Winter.  The flowers and beds are nicely done and with the recent irrigation repairs we hope they will thrive through the entire season.  The mulch will also be replaced in November.  The lawn crew is on an every-other- week schedule now and will resume weekly service in March of 2021.

The Board has asked Becky Salinas with Sterling ASI to get quotes on a bi-monthly clean-up of West Airport, to include trash and bandit signs.  These issues seem to be getting worse the more traffic we have going through our neighborhood.  Even though some of us pick up what we can, it has become too much for just a few of us to keep up with.  This item is on the November HOA meeting agenda for further discussion.

November has brought us some cooler weather which makes it nice to be outdoors.  The two main holidays this month are Veteran’s Day which is on Wednesday, November 11th and Thanksgiving which is on Thursday, November 26th.  Veteran’s Day is a day to honor those who have served in the armed forces and Thanksgiving is an annual national holiday in the United States and Canada celebrating the harvest and other blessings of the past year.  Even though 2020 has been a rough year for some of us, there is always something to be thankful for.

Assessments are 96% collected for 2020.  If you have not paid your 2020 assessment or if you need assistance, please contact Sterling ASI. Remember that unpaid assessments accrue late fees until they are paid.
